FAQ's
Q:
What is the deadline for making a donation for Rev. Brown’s
gifts?
A: There is no deadline. We will accept donations
indefinitely.
Q: Will there be any commenorative
souveniers created for Rev. Brown 's retirement?
A: No, a commenorative
was not planned. However, we did plan for a professional photographer
take a photo of Rev. Brown at the podium. 5x7 prints are $20
with all the proceeds going to the chapel. E-mail or
call the chapel to order a copy.
Interview with Retiring Pastor F. Reed Brown
Q: Why did you choose this particular time to retire?
A: Everything has its season! I feel that I have accomplished what I was supposed to do here in Arlington; that is, establish the foundation of a metaphysical movement that could bring spiritual light and understanding to this community. I also will be 66 years old this year and am eligible to collect my social security as well as the retirement fund which the Chapel so generously provided for me.
Q: Why did you start the chapel?
A: It wasn’t just me that started the chapel. It was a group of like-minded metaphysical truth-seeking souls of which I was a part. We wanted to establish a place where we could teach and demonstrate our beautiful metaphysical “truths,” as well as have a building with our spiritual energies.
Q: You have put so much of yourself into the chapel, are you concerned about its future?
A: I have given my “all” for the chapel because of the love I have for what it teaches and represents. I have absolutely no concerns or reservations about the future of the chapel as it is a spiritual, vibrational entity that has manifested for our spiritual enlightenment and it does not yet appear what it shall become. It is just beginning! Glory Hallelujah, God’s Truth is marching on!
Q: What changes have you seen over the years?
A: Everything! The chapel is a vibrant progressive spiritual entity. We started with Sunday and Wednesday Evening Services, and a development class. From our simple beginnings we have evolved into a well-structured, organized and successful metaphysical chapel.
Q: What do you think will change at AMC once you retire?
A: Hopefully, lots of things! I have done the best that I know how! However, the Blessing that is about to take place is that next regime will come along with new and fresh ideas to take the chapel to its next level.
The chapel consists of loving progressive people and those folks will inaugurate whatever changes are necessary and good for the progression of the chapel. Again, I am not concerned as I am a complete believer in “Divine Order.”
Q: Will you still be around AMC for consultations and teachings?
A: I intend to spend the first year of my so-called retirement traveling, resting, writing and making a lot of long overdue visits to our various UMC churches throughout the country. If the AMC Board sees fit to invite me to serve from time to time in the future, I would certainly be available.
Q: How can we get in touch with you?
A: I will be living in my home in Roanoke, Virginia and will be active with the UMC Headquarters office where I can be reached.
Q: Will you still be teaching at the center in Roanoke?
A: Yes, I will be participating in many of the programs that are offered throughout the year.
Q: Aren’t you going to miss us?
A: Absolutely! Especially at 8:30 am every Sunday Morning when Ms. Siss Kat and I will be trying to decide whether or not we should get up or just lie there for another hour! Seriously, the chapel, the people have been my family for almost 30 years.
I have rejoiced and shared in the happiness of the new additions to your families which many of them I have performed the naming ceremony; I have shared in the love and joy of many you who have been married in the chapel; I have also shared in the grief of those whose final service was held in the chapel including that of my own mother. I leave with many wonderful memories for which I will always be grateful.
